ANTHROPOMORPHIC STATUETTE

Mahafaly Culture, Madagascar

First half of the 20th century

This male statuette in monoxyl wood is sculpted in a stylized manner, standing upright and adorned with a cape embroidered with polychrome diamond-shaped pearls.

Kept among sorcerers, these figures, associated with fetishes, were used during magical rituals.
