Germany, 17th century
Wrought iron
H .: 26; L .: 26; P.: 34cm

This bomb-shaped helmet, reinforced with six grooves and finished with rivets, has a hemmed visor of rectangular section struck with a punch, pointed at the forehead. The nose guard, later, slender and sliding, ends in a stylized sheet, on the front of the stamp. A screw thread above the visor allows its adjustment.
The back part of the stamp is flanked by an articulated neck protector with four riveted blades, which earned it the name of "lobster tail helmet".
Two perforated and riveted cheek plates completed the protection of the fighter's face.
