Important romantic dagger with scabbard. Knight's handle
France 19th century
Steel, brass, iron.
Long. T.: 30; Long. blade: 17.5cm. Weight: 462g

Steel blade, four-sided and double-edged and four grooves.
Gilded brass hilt, presenting a knight armed in the round. Dressed in a chainmail, a plumed armet. The leonine shoulder guards join the breastplate and the backrest which are engraved. The right hand is covered by the gauntlet and it grips the hilt of its sword. The left hand, bare, holds the scabbard. A dagger is located at the belt. The knee and greaves are engraved afterwards. At the feet is placed the second gauntlet. Guard with inverted quillons; cruise with crowned shield.
Brass scabbard, with half-round decoration, on which appears on each side: a shield with an open-mouthed figure, flanked by two halberds, oak leaves and a horn. In the center a knight on his rearing mount; then an architectural decoration.
