Union of Myanmar, Burma late 19th century

Short saber with a slightly curved, single-edged blade, a wooden scabbard finely covered with silver and a bone handle entirely openwork of nine figures. The decor is organized around the face representation of a Nat spirit. He is seated, mouth open, tongue hanging out, eyes encrusted with blue wax. At his feet, two stylized dragons accosted. The rest of the handle is carved with an elephant and five superimposed jaguars or panthers.
