TSUBA, Japanese sword guard
Japan, Edo period (1603 – 1868)
Height: 7.5cm – Width: 7cm – H. Nakago-ANA: 2.3cm
Moko gata in shibuichi with a nanako background; chiselled in taka zogan and hira bori of foaming waves inlaid with gilt copper, with a turtle. Placed on the sea, a half-round junk, sail in the wind, carries four characters. In the air, a stork watches the junk.
On the reverse, decoration en suite.
The edges are chiseled in tortoiseshell and inlaid with gilded bronze.
Good condition.
