HEMOSPASIA LEG
Switzerland, 19th century
Metal
H.: 57; L.: 45 cm
This Junod leg owes its name to its inventor, Doctor Victor Théodore Junod (1804-1881), who invented this medical instrument for haemospasy.
Made like a large metal boot, the leg was put inside to receive a certain pressure – a tap allowed the degree to be adjusted, and thus cause haemospasic anaesthesia.
