France, around 1880
Gilt bronze and glass
H.: 20; Diameter: 21 cm
Flower holder composed of a gilded bronze vase, which recalls the shape of the chalice krater. It is mounted on a pedestal, entirely openwork and punctuated with medallions depicting putti and trophies of musical and artistic instruments, women's heads, foliage scrolls and garlands of flowers. It is lined with a removable blue glass liner.
The large display bears the signature “F. Barbedienne” in capital letters. It also has a liner of the same material and color as the vase.
