Basilius (or Basil) Besler, was a German physician, botanist and publisher, born February 13, 1561 in Nuremberg, and died March 13, 1629 in the same city.
He published the catalog of his garden in the Hortus Eystettensis in 1613.
The collection includes 367 copper engravings. The engravings were executed by more than six different engravers, the most important of which was Wolfgang Kilian.
