Fireplace in white marble, decorated with caryatids.
Claude - Aimé Chenavard (Lyon, 1789 - Paris, 1838)
Louis Philippe period, circa 1840.
Born in Lyon in 1798, Claude-Aimé Chenavard played an important role in the renewal
stylistics of the 1830s, notably by introducing the neo-Renaissance style in which
fully fits our fireplace. He gave in particular many models to the
manufacture of Beauvais from 1829, that of Sèvres from 1831, and bronziers
working mainly on behalf of the Duke of Orleans, eldest son of King Louis-Philippe. Chenavard
published as such collections of decoration that made reference in the field of decorative arts.
He died in Paris in 1838.
