Bruno Gambone

Bruno Gambone (born 1936) is the son of one of the greatest Italian ceramists of the 20th century, Guido Gambone (1909-1969). Both were born in Vietri sul Mare, in the south of Italy.

Around 1950 he spent a brief period in his father's studio in Florence, then he continued his apprenticeship in the studio of ceramist Andrea d'Arienzo (1911-1995), childhood friend and close collaborator of Guido.

In 1962, he moved to New York for 5 years during which he frequented artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Frank Stella, Andy Warhol and explored other artistic fields. It was after the death of his father in 1969 that he decided to take over the Florence workshop and devote himself entirely to ceramics.
