The quicksilver of Jérôme Chedmail
The booth of Jérôme Chedmail, no one can miss it. Located on one of the most frequented crossing points of Serpette, it attracts the eye, dazzles, arouses wonder and then envy. And for good reason: Jerome swims in money. Or rather in silverware. From the floor to the ceiling, overflowing from the windows, presented on tables and sometimes even on the ground, Jérôme has made this specialty its domain, and this for more than fifteen years. As a student, he became passionate about art history and then became a draftsman. Installed in 2001 in Vernaison, he discovered silverware and chose to make it his business. It is in 2014 that he moves to the Marché at booth 13 alley 3 in Serpette, ideally located to take in a few minutes his coffee from the morning to La Petite Salle à Manger. Because yes, time is money.
On its stand, the biggest Parisian hotels and palaces are hurrying to pick up the old pieces that will stand on their tables: Louis XV chandeliers, 19th century timbales, 1900 soup tureens ... Hotels, palaces, but also private, Search for a caviar service, a silver dish, or a cutlery service, mostly signed by large houses like Christofle. As many objects that Jerome handles preciously with his two hands, polishes to give back to his treasures their splendor of old, knife by knife, spoon by spoon. Without ceasing, he chooses his objects and makes reappear in only a few blows of rags the brilliance of this precious metal, which sometimes hid under the oxidation of the past years. One can not be born with a silver spoon in the mouth. On the other hand Jérôme knows that it can make happiness, his happiness to him and especially that of his customers, who get what they pay for.
