Militaria
Militaria: the word refers to military or army related items or realizations. It arises from the medieval arms room, core of the military power of the nobility. Many families still have arms rooms displaying classic weapons and original artifacts like the suits of armors in the Kunsthistorische Museum in Vienna, the past Austrian emperors’ personal collection. For collectors Militaria are a true science; they hunt for collar buttons, helmets and head gears but also decorations like the medal of the Three Fleece Order from the Napoleon era, or the Order of Military merit from Spain, both available in Paul Bert Serpette. From the WWI “Adrian” helmet to the iconic 1895 Colt to the Empire Staff Officer sword, the subject is fascinating. Army related items, like postcards, regiment pictures or shells sculpted by “Poilus” are all part of this vast theme.
