On Thursday June 16 2016, JR will be at Paul Bert Serpette for the whole evening. For its 70th anniversary, the largest antiques market in the world will have its picture taken by the man who turned streets into galleries and collective into a work of art.
On March 2 2011, JR was awarded the TED prize in Long Beach, California. On that occasion, he launched a global participative art project, with the purpose of “changing the world”. The project is named Inside Out.
Inspired by his oversize street photo collages, Inside Out gives everyone the opportunity to share their portrait and deliver the message they deeply care about. It is a global platform, and everyone can share their own story and change a personal message into a public work of art.
Inside Out Group has each activity around the world documented, filed and published online. More than 260 000 people from 129 countries have already participated in this project. The Inside Out project travelled from Equator to Nepal, from Mexico to Palestine, and inspires group actions on many themes like hope, diversity, social violence, climate change…
Today, for its 70 years of impertinence, Paul Bert Serpette welcomes this artist who holds high the banner of commitment, art and freedom.
