After thirty years at the helm of a contemporary art gallery, Philippe Valentin is opening a new chapter at Paul Bert Serpette. Passionate about French design and creativity, he creates a universe where furniture, ceramics, and painting intersect, in a spirit that is both free and coherent.
Within his gallery, he had initiated a unique approach by imagining “furnished” exhibitions, where the works were integrated into interiors designed as living spaces. These exhibitions gave him back the taste for hunting and creating living spaces.
His gaze tends towards the 1950s, with a predilection for René Gabriel, Marcel Gascoin and Pierre Guariche, while allowing himself a few forays into the 1990s and 2000s depending on his discoveries. A great lover of utilitarian ceramics, he particularly highlights La Borne and the work of Alice Colonieu.
Its stand reflects this sensitive and lively approach: a staging of interiors where furniture, paintings by Bernard Dufour, and carefully chosen ceramics interact.
At Philippe Valentin's, art and design come together in a single vision, that of a gallery owner who has never stopped telling stories through objects.
