A set of two swords called Shuang Jian
China
19th century
Steel, horn, brass, shagreen
Total length: 57.5; Blade length: 43 cm

Double-edged blades with a central ridge.
Chiseled brass guards in the shape of the head of the Taotie deity.
Fluted blonde horn rockets.
Knobs decorated with scrolls and dragons.
Wooden scabbard covered in green shagreen, with brass fittings engraved with scrolls and a dragon.
Openwork cope and finial, decorated in a suite.
Bail rings.
