AXE IRON animated by a LION

East Asia, 17th century

Iron and bronze

Length: 48; W: 4 cm

Large curved single-edged axe head, the head of which is decorated with a bronze lion, the front paws resting on a rectangular base.

Its open mouth reveals a lolling tongue. Its mane and fur are finely incised, its hindquarters raised up to the blade, where its long tail stretches to the eye.
