Steel frame marked on the left side "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871. JULY 2. 72. JAN. 19. 75.", engraved with the rearing foal in an oval medallion and numbered "180272" on the underside.
Six-shot cylinder, six flutes and six notches.
Relaxing tail and blue checkered dog.
Locked door numbered "915".
Stock and trigger guard are numbered.
Checkered ebonite grip plates, marked with the Colt foal and featuring the bald eagle — symbol of the United States.
Single-action and percussion operation.
All parts are numbered.
