Sword of the infantry, model 1831

Steel, brass
Long. total: 63.5; Long. blade: 48.5 cm

Cast brass mount.
Ovoid pommel surmounted by a dome serving as a rivet button.
Handle with twenty-six grooves.
Straight cross-section, wheel-shaped keels, inspection punches.
Double-edged blade, in a carp's tongue shape; triangular flat at the heel, central ridge, control marks, marked "Manuf Rle de Chatellerault" on one side and dated "9 November 1846" on the second side.
Leather scabbard, chape numbered "1055" and brass chape, control hallmarks.
