LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SABER

France

19th century

Steel, brass, wood

Long. total: 96.5; Long. blade: 82 cm

Brass frame.

Melon-ribbed cap topped with a rivet cap, with a short tail.

Joint arch decorated with rings and an elongated pearl in the middle of the straight part which joins the cruise at a right angle.

Curved earlobe.

Checkered wooden handle.

Curved blade with flat back, gilded cartouche on the heel signed “P. Knecht” and “Solingen”, engraved on one third with floral motifs and bundles of weapons.

Brass scabbard with two bail rings.
