MACHETE and its SHEATH called Pha

Culture probably Akha Ulo, Thailand

20th century

Iron, wood and plant fibers

Long. total: 55.5; L.: 12 cm

Machete length: 54.5 cm

Machete with an iron blade marked at the heel, fitted with a cylindrical wooden handle with seven braided plant fiber rings. Its flat, rectangular scabbard, slightly flared at the ends, is made of thin folded bamboo blades.
