Medieval pitcher late 12th early 13th -
In exceptional good condition - Haute Epoque, Ysieux Valley?
Beautiful paunchy shape with flared neck and protruding lip, handle with oval section, digital finger-shaped base.
Ringed modeling work giving a wavy appearance.
Appearance of sigillé cooking, but not to be confused with a piece cooked in reduction:
anthracite gray color due to its use (smoke black, traces of old wax inside),
original pink earth color (visible with the photo below).
Form to be compared to the forms of the Ysieux Valley in Fosses.
Tiny traces of use: very small égrenure in upper edge; minimal original surface scratches; small bend of baking below the original (not to be confused with a fel). See photos.
Very light in hand, soft to the touch.
Dimensions: 24 cm high x 18 cm wide handle included (neck opening diameter 11.5 cm)
