Eugène Collinot, Blue cachepot with pheasants and cherry blossoms, earthenware and enamels in relief with outline, Circa 1875

Galerie Vauclair - Aidjolate

Description

This high-quality cachepot reflects the new influences from the Far East that affected ceramicists from the second half of the 19th century. The Collinot & Cie factory was part of this veritable race towards monumentality, evident at the World's Fairs, which pushed the material to its limits.

This turquoise blue piece is decorated with cherry blossoms and pheasants that stand out against the background. The neck of the planter is adorned with an oriental-inspired motif.
