This gilt-brown vase features mice in bas-relief on each of its sides. It is particularly representative of 19th-century artistic explorations. Indeed, artists drew inspiration from forms found in nature and looked to the past and exotic lands. This trend coincided with a revolution in chemical, physical, and industrial techniques that paved the way for new materials. Some traces of metallic glaze, giving an iridescent effect, are visible on the top of the vase.
