Rare costume chest (kofa) from Afghanistan, dating from the early 19th century (circa 1820). This imposing, robust and massive chest testifies to traditional craftsmanship.

Probably hand-carved by artisans of the time. The planks are joined at the corners to form a sturdy box, designed for storing traditional clothing or costumes.
