"PICCADILLY" Roemer Glass Set

A rare set of 31 Rhine wine glasses, known as Roemer glasses, in clear cut crystal with a double layer of various colors (amethyst, anise green, cobalt blue, ruby red, emerald green, and orange) from the Baccarat factory, Piccadilly pattern. The flared bowl is decorated with deep, vertical, beveled cuts that pierce the colored layer, revealing the clear crystal beneath. The base of the glass is adorned with a wide band of finely cut diamond-point crosshatching, creating a multitude of reflections. Each glass rests on a slender, smooth stem of clear crystal, ending in a flat, circular foot. The Piccadilly collection, featured in the official Baccarat catalog from 1933, includes a variety of tableware, including wine glasses, champagne flutes and coupes, Roemer glasses, as well as water pitchers and decanters. This service is often paired with the Buckingham and Balmoral patterns on formal tables. This cut-glass service enjoyed a very long production period and was sold until 1991.
