Description of the festivities given by the city of Paris, on the occasion of the marriage of Madame Louise-Elisabeth of France, and Dom Philippe, Infant & Grand Admiral of Spain.
Paris, P.-G. Lemercier, 1740. 1 large volume in folio (62.5 x 47 cm). Full red morocco of the time, large golden threads framing the plates struck with the Arms of Paris.
Richly decorated back. An old tear restored in the upper margin and the devburt of print n ° 1, 1 freckle on plates 8, the text and the engravings are in an excellent state of conservation.

Original edition.
A Bouchardon flagship engraved by Soubeyran on the title page and a large engraved vignette. With plate VI numbered VIII, as always.

Louise-Élisabeth de France (1727-1759) married by proxy, on August 26, 1739, Philippe de Bourbon, second son of Philippe V of Spain. Among the most beautiful engravings is the general Veue of decorations, illuminations and fireworks of the feste given by the city of Paris on the Seine river. Indeed, the wedding festivities took place partly on the artificial island built by the Italian architect Servandoni between the Royal Bridge and the Pont Neuf, in front of the Louvre. The arrival of sixty illuminated boats gave the signal for the fireworks, the combat of sea monsters loaded with fire horns, torrent of fires, water fires and a "cradle of stars" ...
