Van Gyseghem is an important sculptor with works notably in the SMAK museum in Ghent. The human figure and mythological themes are particularly inspiring in Van Gyseghem's sculpture. The oppositions ascending-descending, ascending-radiant, hardness-tenderness, daydreams-tragedies took shape in movements of opposing threads and perpendicular constructions in the construction of these sculptures
