Carlos Bugatti was a decorator, architect, furniture maker, silversmith and maker of musical instruments.
The son of Giovanni Bugatti, he started working in Milan around 1880 having studied at the Académie des Beaux-Arts of Brera in 1875 and also France. He first received international notice in 1888 and won a prize in the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Turin in 1902 then again in Paris in 1904. He was the father of Rembrandt Bugatti, the animal sculptor and Ettore Bugatti, the car-maker.
