Pair of armchairs, Carlo De Carli

Maison Cedric

Description

Beautiful pair of Italian armchairs designed by Carlo De Carli in 1966, and produced by Sormani in the 1960s and 1970s. This pair reflects Carlo De Carli’s vision of furniture as an extension of space, functional yet expressive. Named Sella, the Italian word for saddle, this armchair draws inspiration from its name, an open, elevated backrest held by leather straps, evoking the suspended tension and lightness of equestrian design. The structures are made of solid brazilian rosewood, with beautiful brass details and craftsmanship. The seat, backrest and armrest, feature high-density foam cushions with sharp lines, providing a very comfortable seating experience. These armchairs have been fully restored, revarnished, seating foam replaced, and reupholstered with a very soft alpaca velvet fabric from Dedar.
