Description

Pair of Nubians in lacquered and gilded wood with mother-of-pearl eyes and ivory teeth.

Each character wears a shell carved in the shape of a font on one shoulder and is dressed in a buttoned and belted tunic.

They rest on plinths decorated with masks and garlands.

This pair of Nubians is inspired by the productions of Andréa Brustolon (1662-1732). A wood sculptor by training, this artist produced exuberantly decorated furniture for the Venetian aristocracy and greatly influenced the furniture of his time.
