The blade is made of a cut and polished wood insert. It is held perpendicular to the angled handle in a fine braiding of bamboo fibers. The handle, curved on the lower part, has a pointed end. The head supporting the blade is carved with an acorn.
The patina of the dark wood suggests an important use of this adze.
While it is more common to find these tools with a stone blade, those with a wooden blade are rarer.
