Visiting the Antwerp Zoo inspired Villas to observe and draw animals. From his studies on the spot, he began to work on his sculptures in his studio.
His personal style captures all the nuances of the different animals, both in their movement and in the textures of the fur. Patina and molding blend together to create movement, tension and energy. Patrick Villas' works are part of many collections across Europe and have received numerous commissions including a life-size Jaguar he created for the Royal Museum of Zoology in Antwerp.
