<p>The Forest , Cosma (female artist) signed, ca 1970</p><p>Price upon request</p><p>Construction and strength are the hallmarks of Cosma (1906-1996) an enigmatic painter who thought about and developed volume in her painting. Victim of the vagaries of war, the majority of her works were lost in the 40s. Having spent time teaching, it was only in the 60s that the artist directly attacked the canvas as a flat surface. She then worked on new creations in relief, distorting and questioning the media just as the members of Supports / Surfaces movement did ten years later.</p>
