The ax or sickle is made of wrought iron in one piece. It is entirely incised with geometric patterns organized in register, the head is embellished with a British West Africa halfpenny coin. It is struck on the obverse “Georgivs V Rex and Ind Imp” accompanied by a crown, the reverse “British West Africa 1920” and centered by the star of David.

This coin was current from 1912 to 1936, it refers to the reign of King George V of the United Kingdom from 1910 to 1936.

Used for funeral dance ceremonies, this ax could also be used as currency.
