Single action revolver.
Round barrel, rifled, marked on the top: “Смита и Вессона оружейная фабрика T Спрингфильдъ Америка”.
Barrel with six chambers, hollowed out.
Frame hinged downwards with collective extractor on tilting, punched with two arrows.
Frame marked: "1874", finger rest.
All parts with the same number: "7719" and control stamps: "A".
Two wooden butt plates, numbered, bail ring.
Model number 3 was initially not accepted by the American army, Smith & Wesson thus took the decision to propose this revolver to the Russian army in full reorganization.
By convincing General Gorloff, military attaché in the United States, on May 1, 1871, a contract was signed for an order of 20,000 pieces.
The particularity of this model is the use of a heavier bullet, a higher powder charge, the Cyrillic character markings and the wrist strap ring at the grip.
