Luxury flintlock pistol, for the Ottoman market
France, XIXth
Steel, wood, gold damask, silver.
Total length: 46 cm - L. of the barrel: 31.5 cm - Cal. 14mm

Damascus barrel, with sides, then round. Light trimmed with gold. The first third is richly decorated with gold damascene, with a breech tail and its screw covered in gold. The round part is surmounted by a thick band covered with a gold damascene frieze; she joins a bright sun.
The flat-bodied lockplate and the swan-necked hammer are covered with gold damask, patterns following the barrel. Bassinet with gold-plated volute and fire guard. Mirror-polished, chiseled and gilded bassinet cover.
Against gilded plate, half round bump: allegory of war.
Chiselled steel trigger guard, with fleur-de-lys and radiating crescent.
Lacrosse cap with long tails, gilded, in half round bump: allegory of war, with a laurel wreath surrounding the cap stud.
Frame in varnished walnut, very finely decorated with silver thread.
Thumb piece embossed decor, in shell and gilt.
Bone-tipped mahogany stick.

Very good state.
