"Artist David Shrigley has no qualms about playing on our fears of the dentist's chair by wildly exaggerating the size of a common molar cast from solid, heavy brass. First presented at the London Art Fair, the sculpture Shrigley's factual Brass Tooth – roots and all – is a humorously subversive attack on modern art; a surrealist work that he himself slyly calls "the heaviest little work of art [he] ever made .

Shrigley says the work will most certainly appeal to dentist and tooth enthusiasts. "It could also be used to crack nuts."
