STATUETTE depicting a Sakalava or Bara WARRIOR

The male figure stands with his legs separated from each other, resting on a rectangular base. He wears a loincloth, a carved wooden hat, his bust is decorated with a shoulder strap adorned with numerous pendants. In his left hand he holds a circular shield and an iron cutter cut from a metal section.

The collection of the Musée du Quai Branly has some similar statuettes.
