JAR

Mambila Culture, North Cameroon

First half of the 20th century

Terracotta

H.: 39; L.: 22 cm

Terracotta jar decorated with an anthropomorphic character – whose open mouth forms the neck of the container, modeled sitting on the globular belly, punctuated by geometric motifs in bas-relief.

The female figure takes up the stylistic characteristics of the culture: bulging eyes, open triangular mouth, sausage-shaped adornment and cone-shaped hairstyle.
