Description

Marble head depicting Diadumenes, an athlete wearing a ribbon, the “stefanos”, around his forehead as a sign of his victory at the Olympic Games. Made by the Greek sculptor Polykleitos, this sculpture is one of the sculptures that follow the canon established by Polykleitos for the ideal proportion of the male human figure, according to which the total height of the statue is one to seven times the height of its head. Circa 1920.
