At Paul Bert Serpette (Puces de Saint-Ouen), Stéphanie Roudil-Corvez highlights, from March 15 to April 14, 2025, the unique work of Jean Després (1889-1980), an artist whose creations continue to seduce with their modernity and audacity. This selection brings together 14 jewels and shows the richness of this goldsmith's universe, between art and craftsmanship. The set presented is part of the Art Deco period, a key era in Jean Després' work. Indeed, during this period, he developed a stylistic language marked by assertive geometric lines and contrasts of materials. This set sheds light on a specific phase of his work, during which his modernist approach is fully expressed.

"Very sensitive to Després' work, I was enthusiastic about this set of 14 of his creations, from the same private collection. Each of these jewels constitutes an emblematic piece in itself, which illustrates the singular aesthetic of Jean Després. Unpublished on the art market, these jewels are a true rediscovery."

Stéphanie Roudil-Corvez, Antique Jewelry & Second-Hand Jewelry

Famous for his creations that combine technical ingenuity and modern aesthetics, Jean Després draws his inspiration from military aviation workshops but also from his exchanges with artists such as Braque and Picasso. A key figure in Art Deco, he reinvented the codes of jewelry and goldsmithing. His works, marked by mechanical influences and clean lines, embody a timeless modernity.
