Description

Large plaster sculpture "Adrienne's Daughter" from 1962 by the Belgian sculptor Pol Spilliaert (1935-2023).

This sculpture is the preparatory plaster cast for the work “Adrienne’s Daughter,” which the artist would later reproduce in stone. His sculptures reflect the artist’s characteristic style by combining organic and geometric forms, creating an interesting sense of tension. Pol Spilliaert studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts La Cambre in Brussels, where he was taught by figures such as the modernist architect Leon Stynen, graduating in 1959.

This work is listed on pages 8 and 9 of the book on Pol Spilliaert by Jaak Fontier, Lannoo edition.
