UNIVERSAL EQUINOXIAL SUNDIAL

Portable equinoctial sundial of octagonal shape, in gilded brass, composed of a compass, fixed on the back by three small screws, bearing on its bottom the direction of the four cardinal points engraved with the first two letters of their name in Latin, of an hour circle orientable according to the indications of the latitudes engraved on the cursor, of a folding gnomon in the shape of a needle is located in the center of a diametrical axis and of a folding support in cut-out scrolls and plumb aimed on a point.
On the reverse, the compass drum is marked with certain cities with their respective latitudes: "Elev Pol (abbreviation for de Elevatio Poliarum) Augsburg Breisgau Krakow (for Krakow) Prag 50 (for Prague) Amfter London 52 Hamburg 54 Petersburg 60" and is signed "And. Vogl" for Andreas Vogler. It rests on three feet.
