Through this new exhibition, Aurélien Gendras is pleased to introduce or reintroduce the work of Georges Martin.
Biographical note:
Georges Martin is a French ceramist, born in Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne on June 10, 1932 and died in Brunoy on October 16, 2020.
Georges Martin began his ceramics studies with Loul Combres at Pesquis near Narbonne in 1965, then with Bernard Buffat in the studio of Madeleine de Valence at La Grange aux Potiers in Gervans in the Drôme from 1966 to 1970.
In 1968 he created his first workshop in Plats (Ardèche) where he developed a unique practice of ceramics (stoneware and porcelain) and wood firing.
From 1968 to 1979, he lived in the Charray workshop in Plats (Ardèche), then from 1980 to 2001 worked in the Saint-Vincent-de-Gras workshop near Saint-Remèze (Ardèche).
In 2001, he left Saint-Vincent-de-Gras to settle in Tananarive (Madagascar).
