Japanese sword, katana in shirasaya, koshirae, NTHK certificate.
Japan, late EDO (Kansei era: 1789-1801)
Steel, wood, lacquer, silk
Length of the cutting edge, (Nagasa): 67 cm
Nakago: 19.3 cm - Curvature, (Sori): 1.6 cm

Straight blade; regular hamon of the chu suguha type. One side features a horimono depicting an apricot tree in bloom; the other side, bonjis.
This blade is attributed to a work of the 6th generation of Hizenkoku Tadayoshi .
Nakago type kata yamagata (asymmetrical)
Silver higo-habaki.
Wooden scabbard (saya), black lacquered;
Sagéo in eggshell-colored silk.
Wooden tsuka, covered with shagreen and braided with eggshell silk.
Fushi kashira en suite, in blued copper and gold dots, decorated with a quail in the reeds.
Menuki in chiseled and patinated copper, depicting a standard.
TSUBA maru-gatta in wrought iron, openwork and engraved with geometric patterns.

Very good condition.

Comes with its NTHK certificate also known as Nihon Bijutsu Touken Hozon Kyokai (the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Sword Art)
