PIA KAETA knife
Ceylon, 18th century
Steel, marine ivory, brass, silver
Total length: 31.5 - Blade length: 20 - Blade thickness at the heel: 0.9cm
Curved, single-edged steel blade with fullers inlaid with brass engraved with a frieze; on each side, an engraved cartouche is decorated with a brass frieze and a silver piece with repoussé decoration.
The heel is reinforced with a strong copper grip, in the form of a frieze, with a silver filigree decoration.
The marine ivory handle is finely carved with multi-layered plant motifs and punctuated with rivets. Silver bolster with repoussé decoration.
Rivet button with a brass pearl.
