Description

Exceptional pair of large jars, late 17th – early 18th century, most likely Spain. Blue designs depicting surreal scenes of rural life with oversized animals alongside elegant gentlemen in city attire. The entire ceramic surface is studded with metal staples, an ancient restoration technique—now vanished since the 19th century—used to hold the vases together. Dimensions: 45 x 50 cm and 48 x 48 cm
