PERCUSSION PISTOL OF HONOR, by Nicolas BOUTET
France - 19th century.
Steel, wood, silver, gold.
Total length: 38.5cm - Barrel length: 22.7cm - Muzzle diameter: 12.5mm

Octagonal, ribbon-mounted, slightly blunderbussed, hair-rifled barrel with a wide groove on the upper face. It is decorated with two gold rings, one at the muzzle and the other at the thunder. It is marked in gold letters, on the left side face BOUTET and on the right side face VERSAILLES and bears the number 187 on the top. Gilded, dovetail-mounted front sight. Marked with an A under the barrel.
The breech is made of marbled iron, engraved with scrolls, it carries the rear sight; the breech tail, made of marbled iron, is fitted with a guilloché screw.
Front plate, with a flat body, marbled, engraved with petals in a hollow background, and volutes; it is signed BOUTET à VERSAILLES. Hammer engraved en suite.
Counterplate finely engraved with a head crowned with wings and flanked by foliage.
Marbled iron trigger guard with lip and finger rest.
Trigger tail to be stecher.
Walnut mount, with a short barrel, engraved on the butt. The blackened wooden cap has an oval medallion with stamped decoration.

Very good condition.
