Description
A typical oil barrel from the Saintonge region, made of lightweight terracotta, retaining all the understated charm of everyday objects of the period. Its brown glaze, still clearly visible, highlights the fine craftsmanship. The Roman numerals and finger indentations add a subtle touch of artisanal decoration. Two chips on the neck do not detract from its stability or elegance. A rare piece, representative of the pottery skills of Saintonge in the 16th and 17th centuries.
