Gaulois pistol set, model No. 4
France
19th century
Steel, mother-of-pearl, silver, gold
Long. total: 28.5; Long. barrel: 17.5 cm
Caliber: 8 mm

Round, rifled barrel, numbered "19" on the underside, hand-chiseled with scrolls on the sides and marked "GAULOIS" in gold on the top.
Silver handlebars.
Blued steel frame, decorated in suite, marked on the top "MANUFACTURE FRANCAISE SAINT-ETIENNE ARMES ET CYCLES" in two gold circles and "Cal. 8 mm"; "S", "F" and "D" respectively in gold circles on the left side for safety, firing and unloading and disassembly.
Registered as "23719" and monogrammed "T" in a circle and "C" inside.
Cylinder head chiseled with scrolling foliage.
Mother-of-pearl butt plate.
Automatic repeating system.

Wooden box with mother-of-pearl inlay on the top.

Invention of Etienne Mimard and Pierre Blachon, founders of the French Arms and Cycles Factory of Saint-Etienne.

Very good condition.
